I have a few jobs coming up but neighbours to where I am working are worried about birds nesting in the conifer hedges I am taking out. What checks should I do or you do prior to a job?[/QUOTE]

well a check to see if there's nesting birds would be a start! if there is leave job till there isnt......simple really.

I`m stringent and demand all work stops as soon as any mammals are nesting in the affected foliage.

Gutted the other week when a squirrels nest was mistaken for being un-occupied but 3 young `uns were re-situated un-harmed in the nearby animal sanctuary so all was well again.

Nature always comes before pounds shilling and pence ;)

Good to see a caring ethic chaps :thumbup1:

I do quite a bit of work for the local Wildlife Trust. We never have problems with nests...we leave fell's or work round them with reductions etc. That said, this year they've decided to stop cutting between april - october...thats going to be a pain...
