So not dragged out not roughed up but searched, which is not that unreasonable.

I think people are over reacting here, if that had been someone’s livelihood nicked and off down the road you would all be cheering.

You don’t get to hear about that and I only know of one person who bothered to update a post on here about the recovery of a vehicle

For the record the cops were more than helpful in recovering my stolen chipper. It was made simpler because the officer went through the very paperwork that you lot are moaning about.

To me it doesnt seem like the police have done anything wrong here. We're all hearing about kit being stolen, day and night. And it seems said officers are actually tring to stop this. I wouldnt mind being stopped late at night if I was in a van as you said you were. They're police and doing this will only lead to less thefts if the real scumbags are aware of on the ball bobbies. Yes some can do with a bit of customer relations advise but it seems that once they had checked out your story they were reasonable.

Great story... and if they pulled over thieves who had your saw you'd be pleased..... best they pull over everyone and get it right 10% of the time than not at all..........

Spot on, and if they are thieving scum, I hope they do a lot more than dragging them out of the truck.

So you were "asked" to get out, not "dragged" out?

To be honest i couldnt hear anything there was sirens flashing lights and my hearing aint that good at best of times and it happened in seconds. I understand they are doing a job and imo a little overkill is better than no action at all.

For the record, I am not 'moaning about the paperwork'. My concern was that, from the original poster's description, he and his colleagues had been manhandled by Police officers who may have been behaving ratherly overzealously. I agree that being searched is reasonable. The point of my question to him was to determine the actual nature of their behaviour. When I worked in London in my previous job, it wasn't uncommon to be stopped in my car and searched due to the heightened Terrorist concerns. It was all done very politely and I was happy to comply.
