Just ment loads of them about Jon , usually in two's or four's up here mate , never seen them grounded eating worms though , few years back they were hardly any about .

Cant say ive ever heard that? Plenty of pigeons come across from over there tho.

 

 

They do congregate now in numbers for mating as suggested, They will pair up and go there seperate ways in the next month.

Buzzards have increased by over 800% since they became protected, and for such a large bird they are pretty useless, we regularly have a pair feeding on worms and beetles where I keep my horse, the population seems to be on the up again, you need to see them off Jon before they scrump your apples! On another note, this time next week, only apple trees will remain in Somerset after Jon gets his 560!

On this subject , at 7.30 ish this morning I saw a buzzard on the big beech behind my house , low and behold it swoops down and kills a full grown phesant , now four buzz's in the field and crows giving them a hard time .

I've heard that in the spring, as they gather together to mate up, they hunt worms in a pack across fields, just hopping along together. No science, just what I heard.

If they continue to breed at the current rate we will have to make sure we wear our helmets at all times.

RSPB have said Buzzards are the most common bird of prey these days. Wasn't long ago it was the Kestrel that was seen hovering along the motorway verges.

We are lucky enough to have 4 buzzards, two adults and two of last years young roosting in trees across the field at the back.

We have a bird table out back and a peregrine that comes in low across the field and as the birds on the bird table see it, normally last minute, they try to fly off only to be grabbed and sometimes thrown at speed into the patio doors by the Peregrine.

Often come down in the morning to a bird imprint on the glass and lots of feathers on the floor.
