Comic relief, I hate it!

Yes but us knowing what happens to sick children in Africa hasn't stopped there being sick children in Africa.

That can only be achieved by domestic political will, and so long as ineffective regimes take foreign money to feather their nests whilst letting their populations be supported by the pittance we raise at events like rnd, that political will won't come.

We can only scratch the surface, we're not addressing the problems with things like this....

While I agree with most of the sentiment in this post, I can't help but feel that doing something is still better than doing nothing and that events like comic relief, live aid, etc still raise both money and awareness. Even the political issues you raise wouldn't be being discussed on here if it wasn't for RND.

At the risk of ruining my image as a miserable git, I quite enjoy comic relief.

I agree with Skyhuck here 100%, i t might not be to everyones taste but is does make a difference the money raised, first hand, i've seen evidence of it

Just turn over, no need to criticise what is a good thing:thumbup:

I appreciate the fact that they are doing something to help these charities, but the actual programme is dire. Even if i had a tv i couldn't sit through it.

The thing I can't get my head around is that global military spending in 2012 was £1.7 trillion dollars, yet poverty is just as bad as it has always been.

Fixing poverty isn't profitable, so it will never be done. Same as curing various illnesses, much less profitable than treating them over and over....
