We were out dead wooding today and i was only up about 30 foot on the side of a fairly steep hill to take off some dead wood at the end of a limb overhanging a foot path. I knew what i had to do and how to do it but for some reason my brain wouldnt let my body do it. Had a proper little freak out! So i ended up using the pole saw from where i was in the tree. Got the job done but it took a bit longer than it should have. Not to mention killing my arms in the process. Knocked my confidence a bit to say the least. :blushing:

Has anyone else had little blips of not being able to do what you know you can do? Or is it just me? I dont want to let anyone down.

You are alive, the dead branch is cut, job done!:thumbup1:

Fright or flight mate, the basic human instinct.:001_smile:

I am a dab hand at pole pruning from a tree and also dropping big limbs and knocking heads out as I regularly think to myself, stuff that!!

I get it at times, often on something silly that would normally get done in no time, without thinking. Try not to think about it and get up another tree and do some limb walking and get your confidence back. I remember a similar thread and lots get it.

NO!

Your just a big wet girls blouse with no more right to breath God's clean air than a weasel...:confused1:

Go get a desk job or join the Catholic Church and leave this forum NOW!:001_tt2:

Actually, I get scared,:blushing: seriously nervous going up the ladder until my Krab snaps firmly shut and I'm attached to the tree.

If I can throw a line I'm fine but I HATE trying for 20min untangling the thing before I can throw.

Perhaps your intuition/6th sense/gaurdian angel said stop for a reason. You listened and are here to report it. If you hadnt, who knows what could have happened. Better safe than sorry.

As said above, job is done and everybody is in one piece so nothing to worry about.

In my hangliding days we used to say that you get old pilots and you get bold pilots, but not many old, bold pilots. This can easily be translated into the arb climbing world I would have thought.
