Intresting what you have all said, some of them ive never heard of? - the majority agree with a ms200t for the small saw, im suprised no one else mentioned the ms200 back handle?

I suppose there are endless combinations that come down to peoples preference and what they are used to using.

No one slew mentioned the back handle as the top handle is much more practical up a tree. Again it's all down tot he job. Forestry wouldn't use that 200 series as they are way too small. A climber would.

As ground working I would have an ms260 as IMO it's a fantastic little saw for snedding up and felling the small stuff. And I would prefer a 088 to the 880 for big but wouldn't really come into it so the 048av as its a monster of a saw and with a smaller to medium bar would rip through most timber. Well it would after a few "tweaks"

I think the back handle is superb in the tree, its light and manoverable and with the rear handle i think it gives so much more control and leverage when cutting, the only downside being its a bit longer and you cant use it one handed which is really a plus.

But each to there own, this is only me!

Didnt mean to start you off on this debate!! Honest:001_tongue:

I'm with you Mattmoss,

ms200 back handle with carving bar, 066 with 20" and 36" bars.

Although I fancy a 260/ 346 to cover the middle ground, carving with the 066 is fast and fun but gets pretty tiring by the end of the day :laugh1:.

:laugh1:

I suppose you really need to look at what the main kind of work you undertake before you choose your saws.
