That's a hell of a lot for a first aid kit, 1500 quid for 2 first aid kits. I have a good quality first aid kit £1400 quid left.

Sent from Hodge's eye phone using the new fancy Arbtalk Mobile App:)

Sorry, got my maths wrong, 1200 quid for 2 first aid kits I meant.

its not whats in the kit that matters, its how qualified , and more importantly, competent is your first aid guy, your std HSE first aid course isnt a lot of good when someones just sliced something off with a chainsaw, or your 10 man kit with the obligatory finger dressing!

the arb aid kits are good, but you really need the trauma courses to back them up. Remember we "play" with some pretty lethal bits of kit, usually well away from good acsess , so the first guy on scene had better be good, or your spending a lot of time in that big white building, and vice versa if your first on scene,

Totally agree Mog:thumbup1:

Hodge there's £500 worth of gps included in that package.

You are right aswell, an old towel and some duct tape would probably be as good for the non trained medic Arb, but Mr H + S may frown upon it:laugh1:

I like the package of the arb aid kit, it suits me and my ways:001_smile:

I agree on the training side of things this might sound nuts but i had considered going to visit a slaughter house to see how the guts and gore would affect me cos i feel that training could be excellent and the kit first class but if i was first hand to see some one, i dont know cut off a limb or chip a foot could i cope ??

Arb-aid kits & similar carry blood-clotting agents. I would seek professional advice prior to using/supplying staff with them. They need to be used correctly & at the correct time(last chance saloon). Some brands are made from shellfish even - the use on a person with an allergy would be probably fatal!!!!

They usually incorporate tourniquet also. Something else that require knowledge to use in a beneficial manner.

These are serious kits for use in serious situations. I have them, but I also have looked into the pros & cons of there use & how & when to consider using them. Even though I have not had specific training.

Multi-man kits in each truck, with CAT tourniquets and eye wash. Not added in bloodclotting bandages yet, but will be.

Although FAW qualified, myself and two colleagues have been military trained for first aid and are happy to use and apply the tourniquets and the blood-clotting powder/bandages if the worst happens.

We were working around farm buildings last week with all its associated animal-borne infections, so I'm adding in more disinfectant spray to treat cuts and grazes.

Thinking about some of the places I've worked I don't think Stevie's GPS is overkill, I just wish it was cheaper.
