£400 isn't enough for 2 men, let alone 3.

I know this subject is a bit like a broken record, but thought this was worth a post.

Does not say what is a days work though, 8-5? 11-2? Tea breaks,fag breaks, they might only do 4 hours work with travelling, nobody with at least half a brain is going to supply 3 men working 8 hours and supply fuel for £400.

everyone has their own overheads, yes £400.00/day for 3lads is very cheap but if he can sustain a business on this and is fully qualified and insured then let him get on with it.

people will work for what they think they are worth, as a rule of thumb our 2man team is £400.00/day which we feel is reasonable,

But since the downturn we have moved into grounds maintenance and charge £17.50/hr/man for this, we are constantly being slated by other GM contractors of being too cheap so in general its all swings & roundabouts .

We cover our overheads with the above pricing and make a reasonable profit with enough in the kitty to replenish/ replace equipment when required.

Also as a rule of thumb our jobs are priced "per job" and not on a day rate, unless its a large job and we are unsure of a time scale etc.

IMO in neither slating this company or siding with them as this industry is soo varied and everybodys overheads are totally different.
