Going to bite the bullet..

We ran Aspen in our 3 MS200t's about 5 years ago when my boss was looking to be an Aspen rep and the saws didn't like it at all. We ended up reverting back to regular 2-stroke after a very short period of time. I am not technically minded so can't explain why but I do know that they didn't go together. Of course, Aspen may have changed slightly since then.....

I was speaking to the person advertising Aspen at the APF a couple of years back about this problem with theMS200s and he said it was a recognised problem?

As we have seen in some of the previous posts, the MS200T does run OK on Aspen.

What we have with a 200t is that due to its rather poor carburettor and its 'finicky' nature, it very often plays up, even on ordinary petrol. There are many posts to that effect on this forum. They often need a carb rebuild or even a new carb to cure them.

A saw run from new on Aspen will run perfectly well, but one swapping over from petrol may play up due to the problems already started by the use of petrol. A carb service or sometimes a replacement will set them up and they will subsequently be more reliable on Aspen than they were on petrol.

There are stories about that the MS200T wont run on Aspen.

I dont believe it, I think its just that the MS200 carb is a fickle thing and plays up whatever fuel is used.

I am keen to hear from those of you who do use Aspen in the MS200, as I want to put this myth to bed if possible.

reckon thats a fair assesment!

the stihl carbs are a massive let down and its far from sorted:thumbdown:

I am very pleased with Aspen fuel, I just wish it was widely available like petrol is, I dont mean from a pump but at least on forecourts.

Makes me wonder why they target market "pro users" and are happy not pushing the product, TBH some things that sell in big stores are so much over priced and people buy it like chain oil £12 a 1L bottle, £18 for a gallon of Aspen would sell so why isnt it available?

The product is good, all machines will run on it and should save on servicing (like carb cleaning and carbon buildup) I am a very satisfied user and will continue with it, the goverment should subsidise it as its cleaner & greener but the robbing b...... just dont care, grab grab grab but thats another story:sneaky2:

Tesco's.....All is forgiven, thought they were robbing me at £1.42.9p per litre, (Todays Prices) try bashing 6 or 7 gallon of Aspen through a week in production forestry !!!!Sounds like a load of expensive environmental crap to me. No point running saws on that wonderful stuff all day then jumping into an old diesel pick up and polluting the countryside on the way home to your eco friendly house

Henderson, its not about being an Eco green hippy, it's about personal health-the exhaust from aspen isn't hazardous to health unlike normal 2stroke mix, it prolongs the saws life, doesn't make you gag when cutting stumps in confined spaces like sides of rocks, houses ect, I don't stink of fumes after a days milling, my work clothes can be in the house and the misses doesn't complain! Some people suffer headaches after prolonged use of petrol mix with hedge cutters for example, not with aspen. It doesn't damage your skin if you spill some on your hand

Some of us wear £200 helmets, £300 trousers £250 boots on the highly unlikely chance of an accident, but guaranteed exposure to harmfull exhaust gasses every single time we start a saw and suddenly a few quid is too expensive
