Seeing things like this only proves why older saws are worth so much money!

I mean come on, why mend something that aint broke?

Just another step down the slippery slope towards a second rate manufacturer IMO.

There was once an outstanding line-up from Stihl, the 260, 361, 460, 200 and the 660. All gone to the grave to be replaced by something inferior.

Well said mate!!!

Granted the 201 has been a disappointment but all the ending in 1 saws haven't been - the 361 was a great improvement on the 360 - not sure why they bothered with 362 though. From all accounts the 461 is a 460 but just better so lets just wait and see about the 661, I for one can't wait for an improvement on the vibe emissions and an upgrade to flippy caps.

As for mending things that aren't broke, unfortunately EU regs on 2-strokes are forcing their hand.

241s are pretty good. I know a lot of orchard workers who use them, and the 261 is a great saw once you get past the bearing issue.

That poxy issue.

Had it on two saws now even the dealer said they'd fixed it when we bought the second.

Have to say the first one now fixed is working fine. Can't believe Stihl use us its customers to test their saws.

Amazes me how people can decide if a saw is any good by 3 photos!

I am sure you are right but at least give it a chance.

I am not a lover of stihls but one or two are good robust saws.

Lets hear some reports of them being used and any problems.

It might be the dogs danglies of a saw and we all wonder how we went on without it!!

from what i know the 661 will have the following:

Power output - 5.4kw / 7.3hp:thumbup:

Cylinder volume - 91 cm 3

Weight - 7.4kg

Vs. 660 which has the following:

Power output - 5.2kW / 7.1hp

Cylinder volume - 91.6 cm3

Weight - 7.3kg

I think it's just been released in some parts of europe.
