Blew the head gasket on my chipper after neglecting to clean the radiator. Splash out on a cheap air compressor. I found using a jet wash tended to pierce the rad fins if there was any weak points.

I must qualify that my TW150 overheated because of this, luckily there was no long term damage. Be especially aware when chipping dry/dead wood "over" the rad, blow it on every tea break.

Blowing it out is good but for the most part the rad cowl and fan prevent you getting at a lot of the rad from the engine side, I even went as far as making a long reach attachment for my airline which made the job possible if somewhat tedious.

Hows the desk and shiny elbows treating you these days?

:001_smile:

Dont really see how this is relavant but as you ask yes its not bad.

Im doing some office work, inspections, ordering, emails, letters and such like and some manual work climbing, driving and machine maintenance.

Yes its good at the moment.

What are you up to these days? what name do you trade under? I heard you had gone bust ages ago? You dont seem to do much around here.

still working on your discovery?

Like I said you shouldn’t listen to rumours, its all about freelance for me these days, all the benefit and none of the down side. Couple of days a week then its free as a bird, playing in the workshop walking the dogs, farm sales, whatever takes your fancy.

I could do fully retired if the wife didn’t keep booking foreign holidays, all that fishing in NZ was nearly a chore and who wants to see Chinas rich culture and history? but enough of my woes, I am sure you have plenty of your own.

The old timberwolfs (entec) would blow out but the new timberwolfs suck in. I think the only difference is the fan which is shaped to push air out. Change the fan over and problem solved on timberwolfs anyway.

It all depends on the engine manafacturer & cost, we have reversible fans that work on a timer on our larger equipment which are great but not cheap. we also offer sucker & blower fans but this is down to engine manafacturer & model. We have converted some in the past.

We also offer as an option removeable radiator mesh guards that fit on top of the existing mesh.

Best way to clean is air but clean from the fan outwards, if this doesn't work soak in any good truckwash as it breaks down the blockage then rinse out.
