Depends on regularity of use and type of work you intend to acheive, plus ofcourse your budget.

Buying, Lolering and maintaining a machine which doesn't give you access or ability to cope with every possible platform situation could be a bad investment, and maybe lead to tempting bad practice (Over reaching out of platform etc)

How often do you consider the use of a MEWP?

Would it be more cost effective to lease/hire.

This way you will always be using a machine with the correct out reach and height potential for any given job.

I bought a trailed Denka DL28, which does come up short in terms of having to multi position, from not being quite big enough at times.

Since we've had it, I've had occasion to bring in bigger hired machines when needed which could appear to = poor vfm

I couldn't justify a 15m machine unless my main jobs were conifer work and plenty of it. Just not enough reach for most jobs and outreach I found was most important,

I have 11m with mine (RQG18) but the only downside is it's too complex to hire out without operator. You need to be able ( unless you have tons of work for it) to hire it out without operator to pay for it's costs, but that is all you will get off rentals is the cost of the machines payments and upkeep.

The 18m comes up short many times, could have done with 25m

Think carefully before commiting to a finance deal :001_smile:

Hi Jacko,

I have a fantastic CTE CS 170 machine for sale. 18 months old, 2 man basket. Good tool.

The advantage of having an access platform is the safety and the speed of jobs. ie: hedge cutting. Using this machine to its maximum, you have a outreach of 7 metres and a full working height of 17 metres.

Come and have a look at it. You will like it. I can do a deal, so you can have the trailer too.

Get in touch soon.
