Mrs Egg was out beating on a local shoot today when one of the guns got his motor stuck whilst doing a bit of off roading! This was the result of his mate trying to tow him out!!! Apparently the towing eye came free from the motor that was stuck and went straight through the back window of the disco

 

I don't get it. How did a gun get the motor stuck?

Screw in toe eyes do need screwing in properly. They are lucky no one got hurt. It would have gone off like a gun

Older members may remember a picture from an off road event about 20 years ago when a NATO hitch came detached from the stuck vehicle, went through the back window of the Range Rover towing it, went along the roof line inside, took the passenger head rest out and exited throught the front screen!! Had there been a passenger in the front seat they would have been dead. I am sure a kinectic energy rope was being used at the time - I took two lessons from this : always check the security of the towing points; and why use a recovery system designed to recover armoured vehicles, on "soft skins"????

I've seen a gun forget to apply the handbrake in his borrowed Range Rover HSE Autobiography. He claimed because it was in park it shouldnt have rolled backwards down the hill into the lake. Needless to say he made a rather embaressing phonecall to his wife who he had borrowed it from for the day to explain why there was a carp in the footwell and they will need to buy one from the insurance money....

i did that once (not the window) but the tow eye coming out, we where in a town centre, it was the luckiest day of our lives! it went about 40ft and worked free of the tow rope.
