Im using 11mm dynamic at moment for like 10 times and it looks kinda wear out all ready in some places.I've bought new 11.7mm Donaghy Cougar Red, Yellow, Black and bit worried about do any damage to it.That's why asking before takin it out.

 

So the normal double rope technic doesn't hurt the rope as much as I thought?What is actually rope life with doble line usage?When is the time to change it?

Usually when it gets cut with your saw/silky and becomes too short.

Well theres your problem. 11mm Dynamic you say, as in rock climbing rope? Rope climbing ropes outer sheath is nylon whereas proper arborist rope is polyester. nylon has a lower melting point than polyester and isn't designed for use with friction hitches.

 

You'll be fine with the Cougar

If your climbing on a blakes you might want to get a split tail to reduce wear on the end of your rope,cheaper to replace a split tail than cut lengths off the end of your rope in the long run.

Agree - important to know how to tie the traditional 3 knot with Blake's for the climbing test, but prussik loop and 2 carabiners is much better than having to untie when advancing the anchor point.

Steve-that's why I bought cougar.Didnt have that kind of information when I was purchasing first rope :-( thanks for explanation.It really is pain.No just bounce /and it does bounce a lot/ but when I do Blake's hitch it have no friction at all or when I tight it harder it is hard to slide.But with cougar it should be solved as you said then.

Oh yes, it will behave entirely different, and be far easier to grip. Nylons hard on the hands!
