I use the chain brake every time i move its how i was taught and ive only replaced 1 brake band in the 6 years ive been using saws professionally but each to there own if you feel safe not using it then fine.

Used mine today on a. BiG ASH and it rocks! Stonking saw! My mate now wants one, preferred it to his 372. I also use the chain brake but only when the saw stops, can't see why you would want to apply the brake at full revs?

 

Had 2 brakes in 6 years including the original.

Me too. Too much haste is often an issue.

 

I try & be gentle on a chain brake (when I do use it - I do try) so when I need it to work it does

I ain't no armature, I put the chain brake on when needed, I don't rev the tits off and slap the brake on and I keep it cleaned out.

I'm with Hodge on this , i've replaced one brakeband in 10 years but looks like mines gone on the 550 . i'm very careful with saws and never abuse them .

I spoke with a chap in husky technical dept and they know there is a problem with the chain brake and the have been trying to solve it which they now have.....allegedly.
