Amazing what some of these so called professionals come out with:thumbdown:

Yeah not sure what a reduction like that would achieve

But that aside I was wondering on the best options

As far as I know no damage is visible or has been found - tree is close tho

I would say the tree was an important tree for the road it's quite prominent

The point here is that the tree is not on the property, it belongs to the neighbour. If I were the tree owner I would not agree to any works without any evidence the tree was causing damage. I would also only act if the removal or Lopping (as this is whats being specified) was backed by a report from an Arb consultant, this clearly was a building surveyors report.

We loose to many trees or see them butchered because or Building surveyors they should stick to their area or expertise.

Can't fell a tree on the basis it might cause damage - it either is or isn't causing damage to the building. If we worked on the basis of what might happen we’d have bugga all trees left!!

A 30% reduction wont do anything regarding subs and the roots will still be in place and potentially make the situation worse as the tree puts on new growth and it's demand on water increases as it tries to replace the foliage lost.

That said, in that situation I wound rather the tree was felled and replaced with something else further away - how about if they offer to pay for its removal/replace?
