201T interesting info...

Used one last week that was bedded in just fine...Superb balance..great pruning and stripping out saw...just seems to struggle on timber over half guide bar diameter...

 

That decription alone has now made my mind up for definate. I will NOT be buying one!

 

If these saws, once "bedded in" and "running fine" struggle with 6-8" diameter stuff, they obviously arent worth the bother!

I would describe it as a "Petrol Silky"....and yes..anything six in diameter or more...it coughs and splutters:rolleyes:

If its only good for pruning (which I agree, unless its some nice soft willow or lime), then a 192t or 150t would be better I should imagine due to the weight.

I'm really hoping the husky is as good as they say...

Said it from the start but agree with you Pete, husky all the way for me even if it means waiting a further 2 years for it to hit the market

My 201t is a good saw, it can get a little bogged down in larger timber, I think is down to it struggling to clear the wood chips from the side case, this is partly due to the more aggressive full chisel chain, which removes bigger chips.

 

I find with practice I can pace my cut in a way that allows the saw to cut big wood no problem.

 

I dismantle trees down to timber well over guide bar length (14") before asking for my 460.

 

I have a good 200t and the 201t and always use the 201t.

Very good point. I'm one of the fortunate ones at the moment, in having a couple of good running 200's. However, my little 192t appears to be on its death bed, so contemplating its replacement at the moment. Sounds like the 201 would be good, but I'd rather spend that sort of money on something that will live upto its name. Finding another 192t will be difficult and the jury is still out on the 150, let alone difficulty getting the t version of that little beast!

Mmmm, Im starting to think the same way Adam, you never know, husky may decide to launch their new saw at the next APF. Is it possible to get de ja vous about a de ja vous moment?

This is the way I see it, last time my 020 went tits up I had a full service and a carb change for just £168, since then its been a fantastic saw, like new in fact, now I love that saw and its sentimentle value to me so replacing it with any saw is going to be hard, but my heart tells me its time to change and having seen tried and used both the 201t and the t540 I really have to say there's only one winner, I hate the 201t with a passion it's ill balanced, sluggish, gutless and over rated by people who have purchased it and only prase it because deep down they know its a pile of poo, and kick there selfs for buying one:001_tt2: na I'm only jesting but its just not my cup of tea,,,,,

We have 3 200s and 1 201 We had to get the 201 as Spud had my 200 and the other 2 were down . The 201 is pants by comparison . it is however improving slightly as time goes on but it won;t get much use now all three 200s are up and running again .

Utter rubbish!!

 

How you can find it "ill balanced" is beyond me , I find the shape and handle shape a massive improvement, I was offered a new 200t or the 201t and chose the 201t because of the better balance and improved handle and switch.

 

Has you 020 had a new pot and piston??? I change my climbing saw at least every 2 years, due to loss of power, an 020 most be very old and unless you do very little work it must be showing its age.

 

I agree that the 540t is outstanding, but as its not available we need to operate in the real world.

i did find the 201 had outstanding balance...and agree Skyhuck that it,s the discharge of the chips that,seems to hold it up..over the course of the day using it i altered how i introduced the saw into wood etc...improving it,s performance all the time...
