i would say it depends on the manufacturers recommendations , what make helmet is it ? . You need to take into account its age + its amount of use and how much sunlight it has been subjected too and how its stored etc , we use the hi viz kask helmets and they are replaced every year due to the fact that we use them 6 days a week throughout the year .

Just a quick one whats the lifespan on your climbing lid i use a petzl vertex vent must be coming up for five year so is it time to re-new? Cheers.

I have a vertex vent but I'm not going to admit that i've had it for 7 or 8 years.

Apparently the life span on this something is two years.

I recall being told at college 3-5 years depending on usage and obviously if it gets a bad knock. I think it states replacement in the vertex info that you get with, I always put the date of when I first use mine inside the helmet
