Don't blame him on redwood, not the easiest tree to get a good grip with spikes unless you have extra long gaffs on em.

Do you know what killed it? Taken two out recently up this way, 1dead 1 dyeing both went quick from perfect health to not.

Apparently it was Honey fungus according to another contractor that quoted for the job.

Dealt with the trunk today - it was definitely Honey fungus.

Felling some conifers down hill. The wind took one tree nearly 45 degrees off course and smashed a bit of railing up but i fixed it with some new bit and only cost £30.00 :blushing:

 

Good job Ian... I'm surprised you didnt get in a crane for those big ass trees! :001_tt2:

A few from a pine in lymington. The spec was to reduce back to a 2m peg? Anyone know the reason, my only thought was to reduce the wound size ?

 

The tree would be unlikely to seal a wound of that size, leaving a 2M peg reduces the chances of substantial decay into the retained stem.
