The first picture makes that task look soul destroying Andrew.

 

6 years ago we retrenchment pruned this oak as beefsteak fungus started to cause some problems, with the addition of a hollowing stem. Today we did a 2m reduction and 1.5m reduction on the side limbs.

The spec (by Neville Faye is for about 15% off the main scaffolds. Pictures don't really do it justice but it's big when you get up on the crown
