Thanks for the advice mark but sadly there isn't that option where I live plus the course I'm booked onto is only 10 mins down the road, problem with finding one with equipment supplied is that I could end up spending a fortune on travel/acomaidation there for putting me in the same boat, only diferance being I have no equipment to show for the money I've spent and cheers for that offer Tom, will definitely be in touch about that

Thanks

George

Fair point mate.

My advice would be to buy quality gear straight off rather than cheap stuff, and keep it simple.

Everything you need can be mail-ordered from some of the good firms on here, but try a harness on and hang in it before you splash out if possible. It's a very personal thing.

Good luck with the course, and enjoy it!

Parkhill training provide all kit needed. Climbing is on site also so tea and biscuits are always available.

They are based on the a46 between bingham and Leicester. Now the a46 is dualed it will be a peice of cake to get to.

As has been said it will be a lot of coin to shell out if your not to keen.

I was just about to say the same. I'd cancel your course in the morning mate and give Suzanne a call. They provide all the kit and their service is spot on. I did my CS38/39 there and you get so much more than just a ticket if you ask the right questions. The trainer is excellent.

Also, have you looked into funding from the RDI, I got 70% of my course paid for by them :001_rolleyes:

I appreciate the advice guys, just had a look on their sight and they have no courses between now and may next year which is a long time to be waiting and as I've said, it's gonna cost me a good bit in travelling plus I'm gonna need the gear anyway other wise ill not be able to work so forking out now isn't all bad

Cheers

George

Is the course being done at Riseholme? Surely they should have a bit of kit you can try on, try a few harnesses and give you some pointers on what basic kit you need. If not, most of the suppliers on AT should be able to get you set with the basics without selling you stuff you don't need.

I trained at TKF at Holmfirth and they supplied kit too. PPE trousers and boots that fit you were all that was expected.

One lad on the course had bought all his kit and failed 38.

Not a position you want to be in with the cost of it all.
