Callout tonight. IMMIDIATE launch given. This means life in extreme danger.

Kayak was reported missing, friends if the man reported him missing to coastguard, he left the beach next to the harbour and wasn't seen again as thick fog rolled in very quickly.

Lifeboat launched for a complete search of the harbour and sourounding beaches. A kayak was spotted by ferry workers off one of the berths. But no one spotted and kayak was upside down.

Lifeboat on scene in seconds of report, man was found holding onto upturned kayak very wet and very cold. On recovering onto lifeboat was suspected intoxicated. Returned to station and handed over to port police for investigation. Was 3 times the legal limit for driving.

He was at a berth and if one ferry came in he would have been sucked under it and we would have been picking bits of kayak up.

A very lucky man.
