Are we allowed to tackle this?

OK... so all of the trees along this front boundary are to come out, the leylandiis and the willow.

The powerlines are domestic voltage. It's not easy to see but there is a spur

from the top of the pole which feeds directly to the house, no transformer.

It doesn't look it from the pictures, but there is approx.2m clearance from the

5 unsheathed wires to the tips of the leylandii's.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Perkins

The electricity board can fit temporary insulation , have seen that done or as stated a short term shut down .

The pole has a street light on it, this means there is a street light circuit on the network, most street lighting is maintained by the Local Authority Highways Department and a ssuch the supply is not within the control of the power company, they are also notoriously difficult to earth as they are on timed switches which can turn on without warning. I would not attempt this job without a shut down organised by the power company. not worth the risk.

To make it really simple - Leave it alone !! why try cutting it and risk serious injury/death and the possibility of large fines from your distribution network i would ask them to either get their guys in to cut it on the day your carrying out your work or to shroud it for you / arrange a shutdown for you .

the golden rule is when it comes to overhead lines is simply - if you dont understand it and are not sure the leave it alone !!

Good luck and hope all goes well
