Milled Oak for Kissing gate

Ah!

I my experience "kissing gates" always are hinged inward, hence my perplexment.

To prevent motorbike scrambler access, stray dog access and really slow up younger pedestrians.

Therefore unsuitable for wheelchairs.

For pitys sake people, its a gate for a local church, constructed out of raw materials, by blokes willing to do it. So what if they havent got the correct ppe, site a bit messy, no road signs etc. Nobody is perfect. Its the easyest thing in the world to rip someones work apart. Its in bad taste and unnessesary bitching imo.

 

By the way, i'm a joiner and done plenty of similar jobs, you carnt keep everything spick and span like you can in a workshop.

Find it odd that a simple post like this creates such a varied response. Seems to me to many people like picking holes in other peoples work when theres no reason. There site looked no differant to one of mine dont see a prob at all looks a spot on bit of work mate.

I find it odd that no one else is concerned at the lack of ppe , signs etc . But each to there own . Must be different rules for landscapers .

You don't know the circumstances (access/pedestrians/site) of that job from those few photos to make a factual comment, just enjoy the workmanship that went into it...

This wee thread is a bit like doing risk assessments, too much "what if" applied to the "n"th degree.

We had some milled Oak and our landscape guys built this bespoke kissing gate for a local church.

 

It does look rather good doesnt it....

 

I am from coventry but unaware of the exact location. Based on the APPARENT FROM PICTURES, blind corner, maybe a few cones around the site and some men at work signs, in hindsight, would have been the desired site layout, but the lads obviously assessed the site and adapted accordingly.. For all we know there could have been a road closure for this job to proceed. But i guess a lesson learnt not to criticise before appropriate questions have been asked and answered.

 

I have seen many of Simons sites layed out throughout coventry and there is always considerable efforts for the safety of the public and staff.

 

i doubt that Simon would have had people using the saw without PPE, as he knows as much as we all do that someone is always looking to catch you out when you put yourself on the parapet of being approved contractors and iso9000.. So doubt he would have posted pictures of it on a public forum. Were it not explainable.

 

There are such things as chainsaw chaps that can be quickly zipped on and taken off, maybe these were the preferred option for said landscape team...

 

If you were able to see the stack of tackle in their yard and vans, a jump to conclusions would have perhaps been less hasty.

 

Looks nice does that, however bemused to not see a beechwood sign on the gate, or has the vicar got a beechwood mouse mat or beechwood door mat at the church door for sundays service???? x.x.x.x:001_tt2:
