Evening all

Managed to get a load of heating oil for free, or what I assume is, its not red, can I run this in my chipper (TW150)?

I've tried a google search and most internet people seem to think its the same stuff as diesel but I wondered if any one on here had any experiences

it will run probably but will raise the engine temp a little and down 10% on power. long term it may damage the seals in the fuel pump.

If you do go down this route may i suggest you add 2.5 litres of cheap engine oil per 25 litres of kerosene. It will help with the above issues.

Don't know for sure but have heard from more than one person that it doesn't have the same lubricating properties as diesel so needs a small bit of extra oil mixing in with it.

I've seen it run in a normal diesel engine and it seemed OK, just a bit smoky.

EDIT: I'm too slow again :001_smile:

Do yourself a favour, especialy if you are uncertain of the fuel type, keep it out of expensive machinery, sell it on & use the money you get on the right stuff.:001_smile:

I am in the don't do it camp, I saw an old boy wreck his pristine David brown running it on heating oil, if an old school engine won't do,it your modern jap motor is likely to take umbridge.

i know a few fowk who've used it in cars :001_rolleyes: not heard of any issues don't know if it was 100% HO or if it was mixed?, also one guy who used it in a petrol landrover! old series with twin military tanks with switchover, got it heated up on petrol then switched over! but then the old 2.25 would run on boiled sock water  from what i can gather you do need to add a little petrol to it though, fowk use it for petrol/TVO tractors the same way

That will work, but you must remember these old petrol/parafin tractors run carbs, not injection pumps.
