Looks like a strange setup.

 

Not clear to me why you can't use a Knut/VT etc. They can be close to body?

 

However to answer your question I can't see any reason why you can't have long legs on those knots either.

 

Tending with a pulley does lock up Prussic or blakes.

Think it's similar to an o-rig. Keeping the system far away so you just pull under the hitch.

 

Not really a very appropriate set up for anything other than ascent.

Sorry but I a bit lost on that one. Surely you will have to rend the pressie loop on the termination end at the same time as the blakes

My apologise if it's unclear. In fact it should be same set up as the one from that vid

but instead using rope end as the prusik I am using separate piece of boa 9mm .

The only problem is that after few /3-5/pulls the hitch is biting the rope very strongly so there is very hard to pull my self up.

Joe-the hitch knot is only so far that you can reach it and pull it for descent.

Stewmo-why does it looks strange?Please correct me if I do something wrong.And my problem with VT/Knut is that there is no room on the rope under the hitch knot to pull on to make ascent.Does that make it any clearer?

I see what you mean.

With the hitch climber setup I just pull the rope above the hitch as far as I need to go. Hold on, and then pull through the slack with the other hand and dress knot if needed.

Or if you have it set up perfect the slack will self tend due to the weight of the rope itself.

9mm could also be the problem. On a 13mm rope that's quite a difference. You may want to go larger diameter. The difference in diameter of the ropes affects the bite of a friction hitch.

But as I said before a Prussic or a Blakes don't really like being tended by a pulley in my experience
