But don't forget it's now immoral for businesses to expet cash as payment..........

We had this discussion with the neighbour of someone we were working for today. He's retired, doesn't like using cards and cheques and would rather pay for things with cash. The way he sees it is that if he wants to pay cash then that's his right to do so, and what the person he pays cash to does with it (stash it under mattress, spend it on fast cars and women, or be dead honest and bank it and declare the full amount to the tax man) is up to them. He was disgusted at the whole government interference, making out it's immoral to be paid in cash and all. However people get paid, the government still get their claws into it through taxes left right and centre. I'm sure most people who get some cash jobs will never have the financial resources to enable them to partake in the tax avoidance schemes of the rich!

Lets just pretend the TPO for a drop goes ahead and the client/customer is in a good position to pay whatever the eventual bill would be. Beech is a heavy wood and I have been offered £30 per ton including the firewood man picking up the wood from the site. Have been informed that £30 is far too cheap and that I could double my money elsewhere. What is the average sale price to firwood merchants of unseasoned beech /hardwood per ton ???, this should be fun...Nick.

I don't know much about value of firewood roadside etc, but it may not be worth as much due to being freshly felled and green so weighing a lot more thus less per tonne, also people may not want a tonne of fire wood in an 8ft butt

So, you have a 90' plus tall, 4'6" diameter beech in the middle of a front lawn,

a client who will pay pretty much anything to get it down,

and a firewood man who will pay you £60 per tonne for the wood and he will collect it from the site.

You don't get opportunities like this every day.

Make sure you don't chip anything over 3" and tell the client they can have the chips as mulch.

Let us know how you get on. :thumbup1:
