Boy, 15, saves cat stuck up tree after firefighters refused to ?put lives at risk? - Yahoo! News UK

So, which scottish tree surgeon chickened out of the cat rescue and has been, basically, rinsed by this 15 year old boy...

I suggest an office job... (or a really good explanation as to why!) :001_tongue:

PS a valid excuse isnt 'I couldnt do it because the fire brigade couldnt'

I suggest any companies looking for a new climber contact the 15 year old teen!

I have saved 2 cats in my day, neither one belonged to me but I knew It had to be done with pending storms on the way. The 15 year old had more common sence and consideration than many other folks I know, Good for him, he really did the right thing!

Give that lad a medal!!

I have witnessed a cat rescue gone wrong, where the climber scared the cat into jumping out of the tree - unfortunately it clearly had used up all 9 lives as it sadly died from the fall.

Had to rescue a couple of cats myself, and i always take a bag up with me to put the moggy in (saves scratching, biting and the little blighters wringling out of your grasp!!).

We rescued a cat stuck up a tree a couple of years ago as the fire brigade couldn't manage it, luck had it the cat was friendly and we put it in a bag and lowered it down, when they opened the bag the ungrateful feline ran off with no thanks.

difficult situation, if one of the fire service or the tree surgeon had hurt themselves everyone one would have jumped on the HSE band wagon and said they should never have been doing it and someone would be sued and sacked after a long winded investigation....... but when they didn't do it that was wrong as well......... no win situation in my eyes!

You're damned if you do and the cat bails and splatters all over the owners patio, and damned if you dont. Walk quietly away and leave it to the have-a-goes!

Tree surgeon was probably not allowed to use spikes and given the tree anchor points were probably sparse, totally understand why he would'nt want to freeclimb it.
