Do you know....there's too much whinging goes on about saving a few quid on this that an the other. Exhibitors need to make money otherwise you wouldn't have anywhere to go with all the gear in one place to see and try.

Get a grip lads, shows are not just about being the cheapest, it an opportunity to see big gear, trucks, mewps, grinders and all the latest small gear in one area to save you money instead of having to travel the country to view different suppliers

If price is your primary driving force then stay at home you miserable sods (-:

I heard two things that made me chuckle, first was a £2 item that someone was trying to get for £1.50, and the other was someones mates clubbing together to afford a go on the Axe throwing.

I think that if you go to shows trying to save a bob or two, these days that isnt going to happen! How much would you drop your prices for a client? Why should you? These shows have free educational seminars, contractors workshops, competitions, and somewhere you can meet up with others with similar interests, not just about buying kit, and saving 50p off the price of something. I think you should enjoy these events for what they are, whether your a comp climber, an axe thrower, or wish to learn the latest Aerial Rescue techniques. We all work very hard to make these events worth attending, all many of us ask is that you participate at some level and enjoy yourselves! :001_smile:

So never been to an arb show before, been to many other type shows, but not arb, how much would be a reasonable amount to take? Not looking at buying saws, or large equipment, maybe a harness and some lines, climbing gear.

What would you take in your pocket for these shows? Roughly.

Oh no i had it all wrong.. i went to the show to see new gear, investigate existing stuff "in the flesh" adn meet people you havent seen for ages. You just can't beat getting soaked, paying twenty quid for a butty and watching others struggling up the climbs and thinking christ i'm glad i dident volenteer for that. I bought two new handsaws and a 550 and had a great time and had fun. I foolishly thought that was what it was all about.. Damm

Have you never wanted to save a few ££'s??? We all work hard for our money so why should we throw it all away when all i had to do was walk a hundred yards and save £80 on 2 saws?!

In previous years, ive been spoilt because the shows have had some great discounts and i assumed those discounts would be there this year... Like many other people did!

Or maybe i'm just a miserable sod! :D

Matt, Its just the way it is, I imagine in the manner that we all get frustrated at customers asking and telling us that they have had a cheaper quote and would we do it for that, some of the stalls must under their breath think wind it in mate, were trying to earn and provide too you know.

Its been quite a hot topic in here the last 6mths people complaining about price haggling from the customers that they are fortunate to get ring them for a quote let alone consider using their services and doing a bit of haggling. Which incidently is the same haggling wee have all been doing for the last 15 years at tree shows. There is no malice or annoyance within this post but if we slowly consider the predicament of others and the unknown costs that they have that we are unaware of, maybe such frustrations wont occur.

Ref Rich to how much to take, if you want a new saw, bit of rope few pulleys, slings, oh and whilst im here new braces, a new top for the fuel can and a couple of crabs then take a grand mate, if you dont want the saw take 500 with you, if i was going down for the day and didnt want to do the whole cash in your pocket thing but purchase kit on the card, id take 50-60 for food, entrance, and beer, and the rest spunk on axe throwing.

Bargain of the day was the eye candy, I was doing the gate for the first morning, was scrap from beer the second morning and didnt get there till 11, i was stopping in cirencester too. But the wags .....Well I never, a treat for lord bathurst as he walked the show ground was surely avialable. My gf has a face like the front end of a stumpgrinder and the back end of the axe throwing wedge of wood at the end of the second day so ill keep her away. But the lister wilder stand got several walk rounds from me during the weekend.

Jolly good show chaps.lol
