A friend of mine has that model, it's every bit as good as it looks.

Would you say its worth twice the Sieko though? I like the look of both - the Sieko with a leather strap would be great I think. Is the mechanics of the CW worth the extra £100?

I'd go for the Seiko if I were you, I don't think you can get much better in that price range and that one on amazon looks good, my only concern would be getting a replacement strap that matches the dial colour.

I worked in a jewellers before I did tree work and Seiko are one of the best in that end of the market.

I would avoid names I haven't heard of as replacement parts could become an issue in a few years.

Hehe, yes there is

My father has an extensive collection of pocket watches, including a solid gold full hunter (which my brother will get as he is the first born)

If it's your thing, it's your thing. Better than dressing up in ladies clothes.

I haven't really no. Any recommendations/ideas what I would get for that sort of money?

I bought a couple of lovely second hand seikos on eBay, they were reconditioned by a seller in India, the only problem was the strap and glass on them were cheap and I spent more on the replacement strap than the original watch

Not for every day use mind, I'd have a new one for that.

Who needs a watch now we all have mobile phones???????????

It takes approx. 1 second to flick your wrist and probably over 20 to dig into your billy pocket and pull a 'phone out, activate the screen and put it back etc. I dunno, you lot with so much spare time :001_rolleyes::laugh1:

I got a casio divers watch (have always had them) last year to replace one I'd been wearing for over 20 years (I only pensioned it off in case it got damaged any more - I'm quite fond of the thing) and to my amusement the G-Shock one I got is approved for use for vibrating machinery and it literally says "chainsaws" in the destuctions.
