It's a small dealer, the shop and the mechanics are the same person

Same as me then.

If he is 'anti Aspen' then I wonder why he is a dealer???

There is no point in stocking any product that you are not enthusiastic about selling.

One of todays jobs was an FS85 that had not been used for a year or two.

It must have been left with fuel in it that had gone stale . This is what it had done to the carb diaphragms.

Being an older machine the diaphragms were more prone to damage from ethanol than the later type.

Just got two saws back from the mechanics......... Stihl 261 2yr old

& an old husky 147

Both got scored pistons. :( Suspect that it was either bad mixing or stale fuel. It's hard to know cos the saws have been used by different guys.

Looks like it's going to be Aspen from now on.

It is also possible that it was down to using fuel with a high ethanol content .

Its a problem we are going to see more of in the next few years.

We've got the Stihl guy coming next week to give all our guys a maintenance/repair training workshop next week.

Maybe he can shed some light on what has happened.
