Help with Interview

Hi

 

I have a interview for a technical assistant arb in a local council office on Tuesday and i'm hoping someone might have an idea of the range or diversity of questions i might face? I appreciate that a lot of Q's will come from the role profile but im hoping to get an overall idea of what to expect so i can better prepare.

So any advice you can offer would be much appreciated

Don't forget to ask loads of questions yourself about how the operation is run, equipment used, methods, workforce etc

 

I have interviewed many hundreds of people and it is the ones that actually have an interest in your business and a bit of spark that stand out.

 

I wouldn't give a load of bull, if you can't answer then politely say you don't know but for future reference can you have the answer.

 

The guy will be looking for reliabillity and someone that has that spark of interest in the job - it far outweighs a know it all IMO.

 

Lastly - if you have your own transport and have responsibillities i.e. hous mortgage wife etc then slip this in as someone with responsibillities will NEED to work and turn up each day.

 

These are basic rules of interviews - Oh - turn up smart casual and not in dirty crap clothes - first appearances are everything!

Preparation and enthusiasm - as described above. One other little trick

When you first get in the room imagine they are all old friends you havent seen for years and barely recognise - it will make your smile look more genuine and will put you more at ease. It does work!

This is the exact advice I was looking for as i'm going for an interview for my first ever groundie job so very nervous, so thanks for the advice even though it wasn't me asking the question

 

Also ive had the unluckyist 2 weeks ever last week when i was taking my 31 i decided to burn my arms with hot fat, and yesterday i decided to damage my finger and think it maybe broken do u think i should keep this quiet in the interview?

This may be a little late, but I hope not. I have just got myself a job as Tree Officer and the interview concentrated on what the council can and can not do in the arb business. I was asked about the law, the processes involved and the fines involved. I was asked about the development process, AIA, ADS, Constraints etc as that would come across the desk. I had an ident test, winter twig, fungi and pest and diseases, followed by 2 exams. One was looking at a development where an arb consultant had not been involved and the other a TPO application and you had to make a decision. All about 2 hours work. I hope you catch this in time for a little brush up!
