About 15 years ago, whilst at college, I had the chance to buy one of the colleges chainsaws (which were being replaced). I asked for a Stihl 036 but the Instructor said none of the Stihls were for sale (as they didn't yet need replacing. I then found out they had been bought at the same time as the Huskys and Sachs Dolmars they were flogging. I decided to buy a new Stihl 026!.

Since then I've been a dyed in the wool Stihl man...but, having bought a Husky 357XP last week, I have to say its the best felling saw I've had my mitts on yet!. I use Stihls for everyday donkey-work, snedding, crosscutting etc. I save my 357XP just for accurate, fast felling work.:thumbup1: (and I don't let ANYONE else touch it!)

i like the 353 the 346 and the 357. been felling with the 353 for a few days n its a nice we saw, perfect wieght for snedding, lacks in power a little for bigger trees but gr8 saw all the same.

absolutly love the 357xp tho, plenty power without being to aggresive

I have had two 346's, both fully woods ported. Am getting an NE soon, but it's going straight to my saw builder. Stock is slow...and boring.....I'm told it will outcut my ported Dolmar 5100S.

my old 346's cut as much as 50% faster than stock. Likely the gains will be a tad less with the NE.

Watching a Johh Deere CS 62 on ebay. Brand new, it is an Efco 162...pretty much the equal of a 357 or 361. If the price stays under $375, I'll go for it.

As if I need it, as a friend has gone out of biz. I'm buying a 357 and 372 from him to replace two of the same that were stolen. All saws modded by ehp (Ed Heard). I'm also getting another 372, but it's been worked over a bit too much for hard use like constant firewood cutting or chunking in a tree. But it'll be fun to race with at events, and he's sending me a tuned pipe to go with it.

I've some videos on Youtube....user name is the same.
