nail guns and cold conditions

been having problems with my nail gun this past week, as in it not firing,been working in -1 to 1 above,was wondering if cold weather will mess with the gas??

I use a Crosman CO2 rifle for ratting in stables and that is no good in the cold so my guess is you are having the same trouble

It might also need a service they are very temperamental sometimes when nearing a service interval.

If it's using butane then that's less efficient in low temps. Don't think propane is affected so much. Maybe the seals are iffy?

If its a paslode nail gun, then yea u will have some probs in the cold. ive had the same prob this past fortnight.

paslodes are tempramental at best when cold. The paslode gas isnt as good as the rawl gas which works in colder temps but still not great near freezing. we keep a can on van heater and keep swaping. you can tell if it needs a service by looking at the front there are some small silver finns at the top when they get gunged up its time for a service

Paslode do supply a cold weather gas cartridge for the im350, it make them work better in the cold. Problem is getting hold of them, not many suppliers stock them.

 

I just bought the new im90 which works down to -20 due thanks to a new gas injection system. put about 10,000 nails through it this week ( closeboard fencing ) not one problem. Very happy. Gun is much better balanced too which helps with operator fatigue.

We had big problems with our pas lode nail gun before Christmas and left in in for a repair. Got a call the same afternoon to say Our gas was out of date. Apparently the new stuff has a much shorter shelf life so check the gas first. It was miss firing, not firing at all, then would fire 5-6 ok in a row and then stop again
