A friend of mine has the "Samsung solid" similar to the old rubber nokias but with more modern features. Tested on the gadget show and was considerably better than the JCB phone designed for builders. Not to expensive either about £70.

Don't bother with it and certainly don't pay £70. I paid £50 but they are cheaper than that now. The phone itself is beyond basic and it has a week point - the screen. Mine caved in after a few weeks and rendered useless. I've heard it had all sorts done to it in tests against the JCB but I don't know how it managed to be that good.

Cheap phones are the way forward and don't have on your person if you can help it.

Toughest phone i've had was an erricson. next best is my Nokia 6230i which is 2 years old and still going strong. fancy phones are expensive to repair and replace.
