Hi,

Im thinking of getting a Discovery to use for my tree work. Im looking to sub contract as a groundie so I shouldnt need a tipper (If i do have to move waste then the disco will tow a trailer). I think the advantages of a disco are;

1) Reasonably cheap!

2) Nice to drive (compaired to a defander...)

3) Will Tow well.

4) Obviously 4WD so will come in handy for off road sites.

If I get one im going to strip the back seats out and cover the windows in sticky vinyl so it will basically be the same as a disco commercial so lots of room to store all my kit, saws etc etc....

Does anyone have any opioions on Discovery`s? Which is best, 200tdi or 300 tdi?? Auto or manual...?

Regards,

Anthony.

I like them, I've had 4 so far (3 200 tdi's and a 3.9 V8) and the've done everything I've wanted, BUT they generally all go the same way and rot away. Yes it's all fixable but not cheap unless you have the time to do it yourself.

I'd really quite like to find a really tidy one and keep it something like but can't bring myself to part with the current 90.

I have had many, cheap to buy, “run em into the ground” cheap on bits and easy to maintain

The commercial widows aren’t foil they are black glass, you can’t see through them at all.

I usually pick up a cheap one needing work. 200 or 300 makes little difference mechanically.

Common rot spots are sills, boot floor and the body mounts behind the bumper, bits are readily available
