Traffic lights on jobs.

I have quoted a couple of jobs recently where I think I will need traffic lights. Cuz of mewp on the road, dangerous rotting limbs etc. I am staggered at the amount the cost to hire. I have been quoted £581 for the day. Other quotes all round that mark!

Do people still use the lollipop stop go boards ?

The Quote I have done is to do work on 3 ash ranging from dissmanteling to reduction and have come out with a high price for 5 days work, 2 with lights and mewp. It would be easier and cheaper to fell the lot in 1 day and clear up for another 3 using lights and mewp for 1 day.

I use lollipops on a tri stand, so the groundys can put them on stop and leave them whilst they do the clearing up then switch them back to go, it saves having two blokes just on the stop/go boards

or they wit through the hole in the top of a cone, a heavy one oviously

You will need clearance (costs money)from the roads dept before you use traffic lights unless its an emergency situation.but must have warning signs.

Stop go boards are different and you can use them but must be well signed and manned at all times.Be it on your head if there are not manned and there is an incident and your signs are not the measured distance and erected properly.

Your hirer should explain the all the details.

I know about applying to have a road closed. I just wondered about the stop and go boards. Can anyone who choses stop traffic?
