Talking of reasonable prices,in yesterdays eastern daily press someones advertising in classifieds logs 2 cubic metre load £75.

I would say that just about takes the blinking biscuit.

There is someone on eBay selling 2.6 m3 for £100. He's in Thetford, if he was a bit closer I would buy some off him and go again with it.

I'm not a log dealer

But

My idiot old neighbour ( in his 80's) expected 3 tonnes of seasoned hardwood for £90 from my fencer, which pi$$edt off the fencer somewhat....

He then bought a builders bag of fresh oak from a farm lad who sells it for £100.

I think problems are

1) regional - there seem to be massive differences in prices across uk

2) customers who don't understand moisture content

3) stove sellers who specify " it must be hardwood"

4) its pretty much the only fuel where you meet the producer

5) i'm told big boys are moving from wind turbines to firewood, so there is going to be massive increase in competition for raw materials, if you've got the £££ time to buy some woodland?

Upsum..... I think you need to have a branded product that meets set standards ......pay for someone to market and educate too.......

you'd probably get a grant too
