A lad that workes for me has loads on his body, most of them have been done by a couple of his mates which dont look too good and arnt fully coloured in. when the weathers warm he has to stay covered up. I also make him take out piercings.

I also have a tattoo on my back and that stays covered when in cliants propertys.

Making your poor lad cover all up when the weather is hot and he is in chainsaw trousers too is asking to give your lad heat stroke !! And make his job really uncomfortable !! A T shirt is ample For the work he is doing

I have tattoos . I where a tee shirt it does not cover them all but it's plenty enough . I am the one that does all the quotes so sees the customers first I have never once had any problems strange looks or bad feedback . I would not where a vest tops as it's smarter in t shirts and gives some coverage too .

I have tattoo's but they are not really offensive it's a personall thing I think the older generation are more offended by them most people accept them these day's ,I know a paramedic who has tattoo's but I doubt anybody would ask him to cover up if he was saving their life I dont think they would care what he had on him he still does his job well

I wouldn't care if a paramedic was stark bollock naked and had quotes from "mein kampf" tattooed all over him/her when busy saving a life.

When said patient is saved/dead though, it becomes a different matter...

I have no employees but do use a couple of local subbies. When they work with me they wear the t-shirts I give them. To cover their tattoos and their modesty.:001_smile:

I don't like tattoo's at all, it makes people look cheap, it reminds me of those fairground types, whats it all about, pretty patterns? where is the advantage?

In NZ it's part of the culture. Fair enough, I'm not Maori but I do have Moko and they have a meaning. I also work and have worked with a lot of people here and there's never been an issue with Tatts. You also find in NZ a lot of full face Moko. After a while it's just an everyday thing. To not hire someone/fire them etc on the basis of a tattoo here is most definately frowned upon and pretty much illegal. I've never been asked to cover mine up and I have both calves and a forearm done. I also have a dirty great ear tunnel and I've never been questioned about that either. As I said, most of it is part of the culture here and the large percentage of peole are neither offended or scared of Moko or Tattoo. And for the record; I believe that some body art, tattoo, Moko etc are in themselves works of art and do far from cheapen people.

imagine telling someone to cover there tats in NZ! and telling someone to cover them whilst working in the heat is just crazy and hopefully illegal.

My point exactly Drew. It's just part of the culture here and nobody bats an eye. Been asked on a couple of occasions by old dears what my Tatts actually mean and how I got my ear done. The oldies don' seem fazed at all. The only time we need to cover up here is when working around power lines.

I have one from elbow up and over shoulder, just peaks out from a tshirt. My other climber has one on back of neck and 2 on the side of his head and groundy has a few dotted about and tubes in each ear. I have no problem with them and have never had any comeback from customers, infact most of them are more interested in wether the ones on my climbers head hurt!

I know it's normally the older generation who may take offence, but my nan at 75 has just had her first tat!
