Well the Suffolk Show has been cancelled now, first time in its 180odd year history, due to high wind strengths making marquees unsafe. I just measured a 17mph constant windspeed, gusting 25, but its forecast to double in speed later. Ive cancelled todays work, coppicing understory below long leggy sycamores with a lot of dead tops, just not worth it!

The strongest it reached here today was 27mph constant, 44mph gusts. not the worst by a long shot, but given the rainfall yesterday and the leaf on trees now itsma good combination for tree failures. The wind is subsiding now, heavy overcast skies promising more rain this evening.
