As far as I know, one hand start up a tree is accepted in NPTC....perhaps someone will correct me.....

Do you not mean "drop start" ???

 

"One handed" start is just that!, you hold the saw by the pull cord with "one hand" then throw the saw away and down, in a kind of flick, make sure the brake is on

drop starts or yoyo starts are allowed in the tree by NPTC on top handled saws, or it was when i did it......

I do indeed...if the brake is on, it will be no more hazardous perhaps even less so than placing it between ze knees....or fiddle arse about getting position where it is possible to rest weight on the body whilst yanking the chain......I think you need to be sensible about this...Dont yo-yo start at head height......away from you sort of thing .

It is not practical to only allow saws started by groundsmen, this is deffo rubbish.

Sorry if I've failed to grasp this concept......I didnt think anybody was thick enuff to try such a stunt....

 

I have trouble enuff trying to get the concept of not drop starting ground saws across to inexperienced learners......it is inevitably met with the response..." yeah but..."...I stop listening at this point...Boys will be boys I reckon.....
