In my opinion the ticket collector should not have accepted the offer from the big guy to eject the fare dodger. It seems totally unprofessional to allow the public to interject in that way.

 

If they had sat it out all the other passengers would have quickly got fed up with the little bloke and he would have felt pressure to get off.

 

That aggression should not have been used in front of children - stuff like that can quickly get out of hand and cause a lot of distress to innocent bystanders.

It didn't look to be an unreasonable amount of force IMO.

 

For the record I don’t have a strong opinion either way.

 

On the one hand you have a lippy pissed up kid flouting the rules and inconveniencing the entire train and on the other a bloke using force where it was not legally justified.

 

Both in the wrong to one degree or another.

IMO, the lad dictated the amount of force, by resisting, he should have just got off.

 

The big guy knew he was big enough to stop the situation getting out of hand, thats not being a coward, thats just good sense.

 

This was on the radio today and the lads father came on saying what a good lad he was and how he had bought the wrong ticket.

 

If he was such a nice lad he would not have sworn at an elderly man in front of small children and would have got off the train and not held up innocent people just trying to get home.

 

People say the big guy should "mind his own business", its people minding their own business that leads to people being mugged in full train carriages or on busy streets!!!

 

If a few more people were prepared to make things their business, these spineless scum bags might think twice before the behaved the way they do.

I think that demonstrates people's selfishness these days if they applaud the assault of somebody who has done nothing worse than be a PITA, just because he is inconveniencing them. Be interesting to see if he gets one from a jury
