Hi. I am in the fortunate position to have as follows 3120 42in bar , 395 36in bar ,385 28in bar 372 24in bar 357 18in bar and 346 15in bar. sounds excessive but they all have a go from time to time. The only thing I would say is a 576 is about the same weight as a 385. the 385 makes more power soo it would be a 385/390 for me over a 576. The big ugly one was used yesterday on a massive mac in a church yard . Andy.

how do you find the 395 copes with a 36 inch bar on hardwood, id like to get one for my 395 but wondered whether it'l struggle?

Cuts just fine as long as it's sharp... But that goes for any saw!!

Why put a 395 on a 22" ??? If you want too then fine put apart from the 390 saws over 80 cc tend to be of an older desighn from both stables as there's no real Market for them to progress and are designed for torque rather than chain speed which would be better on a 22" ... But that's IMO

Not so often but mayby 1 out of 10 jobs it would be nice with a big gun.

Is it wrong to put a 20-22" bar on a 395. I want a saw that cuts really fast.

I'm guessing then at the moment you're only running something a fair bit smaller than a 372 then?

In big timber, even a massive saw isn't going to cut particularly fast.

On something like a 390/395 I'd have said 28-30" - you can still cut up smaller with it and it'll balance better. 20" isn't much bigger than 18" and a 357 will do that for felling without too much drama.

I Find it copes well, it seems to me but then I only use it with this bar so I would not know different. It is a Canadian saw with a double ported muffler and a full wrap handle ( not that the handle makes it cut any faster ) I do have a 9 pin rim to raise the chain speed but have yet to determine the number of extra drivers needed in the chain . ( 104 at the mo ) It is a .404 pitch full chisel and as long as you keep it sharp its fine .
