Mans best friend! On site??

I was going to say Steve, up here in Scotland there is no such thing as a hot day!

Katie (collie/something cross) is with me most days at work (though not so much Monday and Friday, when my wife is not in town).

We work almost exclusively within the estate, so all very rural and forest dominated. The trick to getting her to sleep whilst we are working is she's out all the time we aren't felling, and 'car walking' her onto and off site. 2 miles at 20-25 miles an hour you would expect to tire her out, but at 20 months old and as fit as a flea, she's not even panting!

Indeed, although, in the 3 years that my dog has been coming out with us I can't remember anyone moaning, some people have cats and aren't too impressed about dogs in their gardens but they are always OK about us having a dog with us, I respect their opinion on dogs and it's always OK.

My 2 labs come with me most days & are happy to sit in the van all day unless its really hot. I dont ever ask a customer if its ok to take them & have never found it a problem as i only get them out at dinner time for a walk. If i dont take them people ask where they are!! Like others have said they guard the van but are as soft as when they get out

Dutchie is soft as, but sounds pretty fierce if anyone comes up to the truck.

I would say she has been a positive asset in winning some jobs for dog-friendly people, and she is still pals with various dogs she has met on jobs.

As said, feels weird when she can't come these days.

Always check with the customer to make sure it's ok first, but my Rottie has stopped some of my stuff going missing. A guy made he's way into the rear garden we were working in and it was only Swagger laying under a hedge barking and scaring the life out of him. Looked down to see him running for life out the side gate, Swags still standing guard at the kit while my groundsman chased after him, only to see a battered Transit pull off in a cloud of black. So for me as long as he's under control and the customer is happy I can't see a problem.

To be honest mate he does stop in the truck when i am working and if its anything to do with threes he has to else we end up with half chewed up wood everywhere. When he is at the yard he keeps getting ash logs out and chewing them up he must of got through a cube in the last 8 weeks .

Ace :001_smile: Mind you I let mine chew pine logs to freshen his breath up
