Does it help to have a bit of tension in your SRT line? Temporarily, on ascent.

 

a) so your pantin doesn't 'pick up' the rope if you start at the bottom

b) to help control unwanted lateral movement

So the weather was a PITA today so no filming as all you would of seen was rain on the camera. BUT we did carry out the test and Myself Vs Norfolkfreelancer (tom) Rw/Hc combo Vs Hc/Tk = RW completed its 20% reduction in half the time (in fact i did 2 trees to its 1) and being lime it came into its own today. Being able to run it pretty much wherever i wanted through the thrifty crown and not worry about friction, just added removable redirects as i went out to one part and collected them on the way back in.

 

So we both allowed each other to put in an anchor as i felt it would be unfair if one of us was having a bad day with the throwline. Then once the anchors were in it was off you go.

Mark, you only need to travel about 1.5-2m of line before my pantin picks up from the lines static weight. But i have on longer ascents tied the bag to the bottom of the line.

Perhaps you should spend more time on the RW, that should get you out more! 8)

For anyone that hasn't used the RW yet (or is) there's a good article in ARB Climber about it, a new magazine that I bought when i ordered my RW, great read all around (new thread maybe?).

 

Ive got a few days off work, so will start to make my transition to SRT/RW on some Limes I reccied today:thumbup1:

I'd argue that point Oldmill. I went back through all 45 pages and reread pretty much all of it to try and get a bit more clued up. Agreed it's a great thread though; in excess of 60 pages now.
