How did I miss this thread.

Here's a few of my favourites;

7 Pillars of Wisdom - T E Lawrence

Hugh Falkus, a life on the edge - Chris Newton

Three in Norway, by two of them - Can't remember

The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber - Hemmingway

Death in the long grass - Peter Hathaway-Capstick

A Man Called Lion; The life and times of John "Pondoro" Taylor - Peter Hathaway-Capstick

Probably the best book I have read recently is "Untamed: The Extraordinary Adventures of the Swazi Man." by Davey Hughes. The man who started the Swazi brand of hunting/farming wear and a hero of mine. An exellent book about everything, you should all read it!

I have the Hathaway-Capstick books Sam, have not heard of the Hemingway one which is a surprise as I love his story telling, For Whom The bell Tolls and The Old Man and The Sea being among my favourites, also his bull-fighting books.

It has been an expensive afternoon for me, I went to amazon to find the book Hodge recommended, bought it used for 17p :thumbup1: and then bought 3 kindles for the offspring :crying:. Still thats Christmas sorted in one fell swoop. But thanks to you I'm now going to have to look for the Swazi man book.

Yeah, Robert Ruak is another good one if you like big hairy things trying to kill you!

Ray Mears's shop is the cheapest place for the Swazi man book.

Sam - the H Capstick books are awesome are they not?

Hodge - let us know what you think of 'Trail of the Dead'

D Jack - thanks very much for the heads up mate. My dads copy of 'Confessions of a Coastal Gunner arrived this week. 2nd print run.

Just finished the new Jack Reacher 'The Affair'. Pap, but very enjoyable pap!

'Trail of the Dead' by Jon Evans is one of my faves, but noone has ever heard of it! Serial killer stalking the backpacker trail. As good as Alex Garlands 'The Beach' IMO.

Buy every Lee Child, Andy McNab, Chris Ryan etc. which are all trash but good fun.

'The Girl with the Dtagon Tattoo' was pretty good, a bit different. Will read the next two in the trilogy shortly.

Mark Billinghams Tom Thorne and Mo Hayders Jack Caffery are my favourite coppers at the moment.

Well Mark I just finished trail of the dead and it was a brilliant read. Thanks.

I never read books, I tried to read 1 on the way to NZ, nothing much went in.

I read a paper back about 2 years ago and that's it from leaving school.

even at school I did the same book report 4 years in a trot and it was from a book I read in primary 6!

Got to love teachers that don't compare notes in the staff room :)

it was calked David and the Phoenix.

it had more pictured than words , and I milked it until 4 th year.
