How many people use Aspen?

Just wandering what percentage of people on here use aspen in their saws? The only thing that puts me off is that at £17.60 it's 2.5 to 3 times the price of unleaded.

Don't know if the poll will work but here goes

 

1. Never use aspen

2. Always use aspen

3. Occasional use eg. hedgecutting where the fumes linger around more

I would love to use aspen fuel and am considering asking my boss (asked him to convert before) if I may get back the normal fuel price of unleaded and pay the rest myself to use aspen in my climbing saw at the least.

ive ordered some to use in just my climbing saw, not sure i'll be running the more thirsty machines on it. To be honest, health benefits aside, the main reason im running it is due to how sensitive the carbs seem to be on the climbing saws.......this should pretty much eliminate any fuel contamination during the mixing process etc.

I use it in all my hand tools,gets a bit expensive on some jobs,but I cant see me going back to pump fuel.

I use it in all my saws MS 241/261/362/660 and they all run noticeably better/sharper. I don't cut wood everyday and the big saw Sthil 660 doesn't come out every week maybe once every couple of months, with Aspen i don't need to drain it, just pick it up and use it.

The other plus is the reduced fumes so from a health point of view it has got to be worth using.

my gf's dad uses only aspen for his saws, hedgetrimmers, strimmers etc. it's a pleasure using his stuff as you don't ever get that nasty build up of fumes

(worst for it in my experience is cutting down a stump to ground level, the fumes seem to just stay in one place).

in my opinion there isn't any reason not to use it when the cost is paid by the customer anyway, without affecting your day rate much at all.

I actually trialed it for two weeks, for Aspen, on behalf of my boss. We were running brushcutters on it. The benefits are numerous, no carcinogens and reduced fumes, more economical(apparently), longer life for machines, better performance and it smells good!

I found it a really good fuel.

 

We stopped using it when the trial supply ran out.Money, money money.

 

I know what you mean about cutting stumps, leylandii hedge work is pretty bad too.

I've just started using it in my chainsaws and hedgecutters. It makes for a much more pleasent working environment. I probably won't use it in my strimmer or mower as the exhaust on them isn't as close to my face.

I have been using it on everything for over a year now and I think it's great.

I know it costs more but the cost can go against your tax. To not smell horrid smokey old 2 stroke is great!!

:biggrin:I became a dealer for Aspen about 3months ago and have just received our 4th pallet. The reception from our customers has been incredible. Most had never heard of it and were sceptical, but most have tried it, been impressed and come back for more. My commercial customers, mostly gardeners and tree surgeons who do a fair bit of hedgecutting, have been particularly impressed as they feel better at the end of the day and have acheived much more work than with pump petrol. Domestic users like it primarily for convenience and long shelf life. I have not had a single negative comment and the price is not an issue.

I use it for all my service work ( except garden tractors) where all machines are returned with a full tank. My workshop and showroom, which are seperated by a partition, now smell much better and our health has improved. Less headaches and nasal congestion, less fatigue. All petrol is drained outside, prior to service.

All in all, a good result!
