Tractor drivers

Just to start the ball rolling.

Have any of you tractor drivers got fed up with puling over to let Joe Public past

and they don't say thank you.

So the next line of cars have to wait until you're in a better mood.

30 odd years ago we used to try to get on the road in our village about 7.50pm to catch all the commuters rushing to catch the train.

The competition was to see who could hold up the most cars.

the best thing to hold them up was towing a Cambridge ring roll,

Any one else do the same.

NO, and i think tractor drivers that don't pull over for joe public are not very nice

 

And i drive a tractor from time to time

if its a long stretch with no safe pull over points, what can they do? its their choice to risk an overtake, and ive seen some bad ones!

 

its polite to pull over, i had one wagon driver sarcastically clap, i pulled over at the first point for about 10 miles, with about 30 vehicles or so behind me.

 

going over runcorn bridge is fun, i have to get to the outside lane to go to frodsham, it does go down to a 30, the best i counted there in a half mile run was 26.

I often do an extra lap of any roundabouts on my route, it gives a few people the chance to get past and I don't have to wait to keep going:thumbup1:

weve done some turf work in frodsham and nearby kingsley, been there a few times and driven through there a lot. Thats about as much as ive done there.

When i've been coming back from a job i generally try and find a safe place to pull in if i have more than 10 cars behind me. The best i've ever had was 47 and that was only because there was no safe spot to pull in (not even a wide gateway or farm entrance). I put my hand up to apologise and most of the drivers tooted and thanked me back. Felt really bad as at the back of the que was a funeral procession.

I run a tractor myself and pull over, then when I get fed up of no thanks. I do a big wave and head nod at one, then its suprising how many follow the example of the 1st victim, you could end up with arm ache.

On friday night I followed a crop sprayer for 8 miles, he never pulled over and due to traffic and the daft speed limits we have these days and unbroken lines on route you couldn't overtake. He passed at least 5 good laybys. Thats ignorance Im not party to.

I don't like my day being messed up and don't mess others peoples days up

i personally have more fun overtaking the tractor drivers that wont pull over even though they have had plenty of chances to do so !! you would be amazed how many of them get fed up being slowed to a mear 5mph !!!!!! often they get the hint and pull over , if not they best be prepared to wait for me lol
