Not going to work today for an odd reason...

I was about to leave the house this morning and my workmate phoned me. He had found a loaded rifle (not sure if it was a 22 or something bigger) in some undergrowth on a dog walk! He spoke to police who said they would be over to get it 'at some point' this morning.

We were saying how bad it would of been if kids found it :sneaky2:

Oh well, first sunday working in a long while!

anyone else found something that dodgy before?

Ringing 999 and saying there's a loaded gun on the pavement should have elicited a response from an Armed Response Vehicle as a 'flash' call. :001_smile:

They're generally around the county unless previously tied up in an incident

Unless it was SE London of course where it would be the norm..... :blushing:

Me? I've only found dogs, wallets and drunks

Always adds a bit of excitement to the day when you find something interesting. We found an unexploded ww2 bomb a couple of years ago. It was about 2ft long and 8inch diameter with Finns on the back - classic bomb shape which only became apparent after we,d been hammering at it with the kango for about 15minutes as it was in the way of a hole we were digging for a pergola post. One of the guys wanted to take it home as an ornament! Police came followed by the bomb squad. Very long lunch break that day:thumbup:

well the police have finally came round and took the rifle i found walking the mut this morning... they weren't impressed as it could have been in the hands of kids quite easily, but when i reported it, just incase lost or stolen etc i felt like a criminal! had to say where i was, why i was there, anyone with me, where i found it, where i was going, home address, phone numbers, etc etc!!!!

A similar story, we were working nights on Dartford river crossing many years ago when one of the tunnel cleaning gang found a pistol in the tunnel, job stopped everyone off the job until the police were called to collect the gun.
