Your dead right!

Here in Norway they have the Money to implement all the EU's ridiculous legislation and a passive populace. Here are two examples

One can Drive a 40 Ton Truck with a "C" Class Licence, however one cannot tow a 751KG Trailer with Said Truck or Passenger Car without an "E" Endorsement on your Licence. Its a snip at £2200 to get.

Next year all Trailers regardless of weight will have to have an annual inspection.

You have all this to look forward to.....

I've often thought about this and coming to the conclusion that it would be a good idea. I am looking at it like this - I,m already paying yearly to have the trailer maintained so I might as well get the "ticket" and also if it is enforced then all those scrap trailers running round the road towed by cowboys and double jobbers who pay no tax will be drawn into the net.

Would not like to argue that one in a court of law especially if you have already taken payment for the logs by debit card or paypal.

Payment on delivery whether cash or cheque. It would seem log delivery's will still be covered by the forestry exemption.

When i first started out over 15 years ago now i was told to get a credit history i had to use a credit card the bank then sold me one! I don't do credit cards they are the biggest scam out, what everyone needs to remember is when Italy goes down the tubes, your bank will be giving you a couple of months notice to clear your balance?

from what i can work out with searches is if you run a dual purpose 4x4 with a rear bench seat (ie double cab) and the unladen weight of the trailer is under 1020kg then it'll be O licence exempt.

I got pulled a few months ago and got a £200 fine for not running a tacho and had to get one fitted.(completely unaware i had to, its a 4x4 double cab pickup but apparently ignorance is no excuse) Fed up with this country targeting the easy target, hard working peeps to pay for the lazy gits that sponge off society! sorry rant over .

o licence exempt until its used for commercial purpose i think!!!! your family caravan will be fine, the chipper prob wont be!!!!!!!

If the above are true then it proves what a total farce the whole thing is!

Either a vehicle towing a trailer is dangerous(or what ever reason they give)* or it isnt, exempting certain vehicles or people is ridiculous.:confused1:

* plus I assume they have detailed stats that show there is a major problem while towing which can be sorted out with an OL:laugh1:

Anyway Im just going to ignore it all as most do in regards to the towing <750kg category B license stuff.

Oh and if anyone thinks im being bad and making the roads unsafe by doing the above then I hope you are doing EVERYTHING in your power to make sure ALL your vehicles are inspected regularly regardless if they require it by law or not.:sneaky2:

Just got off the phone to vosa, if your vehicle gross vehicle weight is 3500kg, then the weight of your trailer can weigh zero kg, my chipper weighs 850, so in order to be exempt from the operators licensing requirements for running a ford transit and chipper, i can not tow with the transit and would need to look at something that can tow upto 850kg and still with the combined weight of the gvw and chipper be under 3500kg.

A renault clio van can tow upto 1150kg, and its gvw is 1515kg. so added together my gvw =2365kg, so i do not need a operators license. So if we all buy small vans for towing kit and chipper around, and get a member of staff to drive the transit without a trailer/chipper, then we are covered.

Or fit a big winch onto the transit and carry it to the bloody jobs,

Im speechless, but I will not be getting a ol license, Did you know that the ol yard has to be able to do a 360 turn in forward gear to be complient as an ol yard, and you have to have service agreement with a garage that ensures your lorry has full service oil air fuel plus repairs every three months. sweet baby hesus

I think its ridiculous all these trailer laws weights etc etc

im 24 and without my trailer license i can only legally tow my TW 150dhb behind the tipper.

but i can jump on the tractor and dump trailer and legally weigh 24tonnes gross on the public highway on my PLG license?!!red diesel,no mot and tax exempt??!!!

its ridiculous ,and being self employed with just one full time employee is financially hard on us small boys :(

an observation about VOSA are they not a private company now that are paid by HMG to enforce the vehicle construction and use regs . ( catch people and help pay of the national debt ) if they don't stop drivers then they don't get paid .Are they paid to educate drivers and send them on their way with advice or persecute ( sorry I mean prosecute ) . When farmers go to livestock markets they regularly attend along with customs and excise, trading standards and animal health. You now need a certificate of competence to transport animals over a certain distance .You might however target your politicians in Brussels , the biggest gravy train ever , and job creation scheme .
